Helping Protect Houston's Infrastructure Through Public Education
Houston Public Works provides essential water and wastewater services to millions of residents throughout the Greater Houston area. One of its ongoing challenges is preventing costly sewer blockages caused by grease, wipes, and other household items that are improperly disposed of.
Working alongside a multidisciplinary creative team, I helped develop an integrated public awareness campaign designed to educate residents and encourage simple behavior changes that protect the city's infrastructure. The campaign extended across digital, print, radio, social media, promotional materials, and animated video, creating a consistent message across every public touchpoint.
My role focused on campaign strategy, messaging, copywriting, and creative collaboration, helping translate a technical public works issue into clear, approachable communications that residents could easily understand and remember.

Making Public Education More Memorable
To make a technical topic more approachable, we developed a cast of illustrated characters that brought personality and humor to an important public service message. I collaborated on the campaign's creative direction, messaging, script development, and production support to ensure the educational content remained engaging while clearly communicating the desired behavior.
